Jimin (지민) of BTS (방탄소년단) claimed a major victory at the '2024 MAMA AWARDS' held on November 22 at Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan.
Jimin was honored with the 'VISA Fans’ Choice of the Year', one of the four grand prizes at the ceremony, solidifying his status as a global superstar.
This marks a remarkable milestone for Jimin, as he has now won awards for two consecutive years as a solo artist. Last year, he received a major award at the '2023 MAMA', including 'Best Male Artist', alongside group accolades such as 'Worldwide Artist of the Year', 'Best OST', and 'Worldwide Icon of the Year'. This year, his solo success continued with the grand prize win, highlighting his ongoing impact and popularity.
Additionally, in the 'Fans’ Choice Male Top 10', a key category at this year’s MAMA, BTS members RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook all secured awards, showcasing the group’s unparalleled dominance and fan support.
Jimin’s solo achievements extend beyond the awards stage. His second solo album 'MUSE', released in July, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while its title track 'Who' soared to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album and its singles have maintained a strong presence on Billboard’s main charts for 17 consecutive weeks, underlining their enduring success.
On Spotify, Jimin broke new records with 'Who'. As of November 13, the track reached 1 billion streams, becoming the fastest Korean artist’s song to achieve this milestone in 2024. Notably, it is the only K-pop song released this year to surpass 1 billion streams, further cementing Jimin’s global appeal.
Jimin’s accolades at the 2024 MAMA and his ongoing record-breaking achievements highlight his extraordinary presence in the music world, both as a solo artist and a member of BTS.
